Wine Tasting and Shopping at a Historic Winery

We will visit Chichibu Wine, a long-established and well-regarded winery known only to those in the know. The winery began in the late 1930s, when founder Gensaku Asami started cultivating grapes in Chichibu. In 1959, a French priest famously praised the wine, calling it “the taste of Bordeaux”—a moment that helped solidify its legacy.
At Chichibu’s most renowned winery, you’ll enjoy a guided wine tasting experience.
The tasting includes approximately five varieties such as Gensaku Shirushi GKT (white), Gensaku Shirushi Koshu Sur Lie (white), and Chichibu Wild Grape.
Typically, tastings are served in plastic cups, but this special plan includes glassware for a more refined experience.
Whisky Tasting at a Retro-Style Ryokan

Enjoy a Rare Ichiro’s Malt Tasting at Suzaki Ryokan
At Suzaki Ryokan, a charming traditional inn, experience a special tasting of Ichiro’s Malt—Chichibu’s most iconic whisky and a five-time consecutive winner at the World Whiskies Awards.
While tastings are sometimes offered to overnight guests, this exclusive tour gives day-use visitors rare access to this premium experience.
Even the Ichiro’s Malt distillery does not offer public tastings, making this opportunity truly unique.
You can choose two varieties to sample (approx. 30ml each), with the option to try a third and fourth for an additional fee.
Available Whiskies :
- Limited Edition
- Mizunara Wood Reserve
- Wine Wood Reserve
- Double Distilleries
Pair your tasting with carefully selected snacks that complement the flavor of each whisky, and savor the perfect harmony.
Day-Use at a Historic Ryokan

The onsen (hot spring bath) is available for unlimited use throughout your stay.

For lunch, enjoy Ogano’s famous dishes at Suzaki Ryokan:
- Waraji Katsu — a hearty rice bowl topped with two large pork cutlets, each the size of a traditional straw sandal.
