Life in Ogano Town, Surrounded by Nature and Culture

My name is Tomita, and I am originally from Hyogo Prefecture. A year ago, I moved to Ogano Town, where I currently work as a graphic designer while also serving as an employee of the Ogano Town Specific Community Development Cooperative Association. In this role, I am dispatched to various workplaces, including serving at a ryokan and working at reception desks in local facilities.

One of the great advantages of this cooperative is the opportunity to meet many people as my assignments change. At every workplace, I have been warmly welcomed, and I feel the kindness of the people in Ogano Town every day.

Additionally, I utilize my expertise in design to create flyers, posters, and pamphlets for businesses, working remotely. Through my designs, I aim to convey the charm of Ogano Town to as many people as possible.

Living in Ogano Town has made me more attuned to the changing seasons than when I lived in the city. In the harsh winters, for example, the local tradition of hanging persimmons to dry, known as “tsurushigaki,” is a cultural practice that symbolizes the seasonal atmosphere of the region and leaves a strong impression on me. As spring approaches, the sound of drum practice can be heard throughout the town, culminating in the grand “Spring Festival” held in April. In Ogano Town, daily life and the rhythm of the seasons are closely intertwined.

Moreover, Ogano Town hosts numerous festivals and events throughout the year, ensuring that life here is always enjoyable and fulfilling.
